Hilts

AT 1548 Hilt

My Angus Trim 1548 hilt was customized by Christian Fletcher (thanks, Christian!) with an "S"-shaped guard with annalettes (finger guards), a hex-key pommel nut, and furniture blued. I have since painted the furniture with a hammered finish, and carved a whole new two-piece stepped grip out of mahogany, complete with two brass end-spacers and a thicker painted brass mid-spacer. The top grip piece is wrapped with hand-sewn and shrink-fitted black leather. 'Tis a very comfortable grip. I plan on making a few alternate pieces so I can mix and match to create different grip styles.

The "palm" side of the grip is at left. I am going to make a more traditionally-sewn wrapped grip in oxblood leather. The below pictures show the ATrim in it's poplar scabbard, and it's tight fit.

If you are interested in commissioning a piece, please e-mail me at cletzelter@mac.com and I will get back to you with a price by the end of the next day.
